Shadow’s Flame 0.3a released

A new version of Shadow’s Flame has been released.

Changes include

* Improved Player and Enemy movement (you can no longer lead enemies into the water).
* Damage done to the player and monsters is now shown.
* Improved World Map – Graphically.
* An additional town has been added to the desert area.
* More land is now accessible.
* Improved Shop system overall.

You can view all these and more by pressing F1 in game.

In Development Update – Turn-Based Platform RPG

New features have been added which include an inventory, town and shop systems ( Screenshots below ). A demo should be available soon.

Game Development Update

Progress on the Turn-Based Platform RPG is going well. I’ve uploaded a few screenshots and will also include details on current working features.

**Please note that all graphics are currently only place-holders**

First is the World Map, which currently includes -

* A few different terrain types (Grassland, Snow Fields, Desert and Mountains ).
* Turns – Enemies will take turns moving when the player has completed their movement phase.
* Portraits showing either the terrain types or enemies.
* Experience bar and basic character information.
* Number of turns played and if it’s the player or computers turn.

Secondly the spell interface, or at least an overview -

* Setting spells to “slots” ( only 4 different spells at the current time ).
* Slots are used in battle to cast spells, there is a maximum of 4 slots.
* The main black area will list – cost of the spell, damage done, a basic description of how it works, setting that spell and currently used spells.

Next comes the “battle” portion. Currently enemy movement has not been added. But have spells set and switching between them has. Currently using the platform engine, created by grumpymonkey -

* Player can use up to 4 different spells in one battle
* Access to “some” inventory items will be available.
* Players earns experience for every enemy killed in a battle ( calculated at the end of a battle )
* A small battle report is shown at the end of a battle – this includes total experience gained along with money and other various items found.
